The New Hanover County Communications and Outreach Office accepts public records requests via online form. Once your request is received, a member of the Communications Office will contact you in a timely manner.
Requests for background checks or marriage, divorce, or property records cannot be filled by submitting an online request.
Below is a list of common public records requests that must be handled by other departments or agencies. If your inquiry falls into any of these categories, please contact the agency listed and do not submit a public information request.
You can search for a marriage record by visiting the Register of Deeds website and searching the Official Public Records system. Utilizing the Official Public Records system, you may search for birth certificates, death certificates, marriage records, military discharges, and uniform commercial code.
