In October 28, 1995, Julia Rodriguez was reported missing in Brunswick County. On November 3, 1995, her car was found burned in a wooded area near the railroad tracks off of Blue Clay Rd. in northern New Hanover County. On the day of her disappearance, Julia Rodriguez left her 12 year old daughter at their Leland home to drive to Food Lion to get groceries. She never returned home. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance are being investigated as a homicide.
