2. How do I get a Military/Veteran ID Card?

Veteran Health Identification card- When you’re enrolled in VA health care, you get a Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC) that you use to check in to your appointments at VA medical centers. You may also use this card to get discounts offered to Veterans at many stores, businesses, and restaurants. 

2)  If you are 100% service connected or in receipt of Individual Unemployability (IU) AND considered permanent and totally disabled you are eligible to obtain a DoD card. you must visit the following site and schedule an appointment https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/locator 

3) The New Hanover County Register of Deeds office provides Veterans with a Photo ID card after registering DD-214 or military discharge. 

3. How do I enroll in VA Healthcare?

You must submit complete a VA Form 10-10EZ and a copy of DD-214 or equivalent military discharge documents. The VA Medical Center Eligibility Office will determine eligibility, priority group, and co-pays (if applicable). There are separate programs for active duty personnel, retired military, and dependents of veterans who are totally and permanently disabled.
